Tunisie: Cet heureux revirement de situation à l'avantage de cette merveilleuse révolution est fait non sans calculs

After twenty-five years at the heart of power Beji Caid Essebsi not hesitate to assert that "the political responsibilities that I assumed were more or less long parenthesis in my legal career." What conclusions in fact it? "At the end of my last term as MP in 1994 I had the feeling of not being able to change much in the political system. But I left the political scene without regret. And without nostalgia. I accept fully that everything I did, "he adds. History decided otherwise, the revolution has meant that this disciple of Bourguiba is position to change the political system of a dual dictatorship.
Beji Caid Essebsi just like his mentor is a pragmatist. His political approach has always been marked by good sense and justice. A lawyer by training, process for its legitimacy and legality. Share the strategy of confrontation with public opinion against that of "the essential and important." The key is to restore security, the important thing is to change the political system in place that draws its legitimacy of listening to the voice of the majority and seeks to establish the legality through a constituent assembly. A methodology Bourguiba taken literally: to the essential and most important legally and under cover of popular legitimacy.
In the chaos that marked the post Ben Ali and the RCD Fiasco Ghanouchi and government, I wonder why the West has tried to exclude the voice of wisdom and ignore the great politicians of this nation. It must be said that those who were in place during the reign of Ben Ali had no political competence, otherwise agents to execute the orders of a Mafia clan. After the failure of their maneuvers were intended to save the system failed that Ben Ali has left after he fled, the French Right and American diplomacy have resigned to the idea that Tunisian society is made ready to Avenue of true democracy and that their interests would be better guaranteed by the Tunisian state Democrat who will serve as pilot project policy in the Arab world.
The stakes are high for this happy turn of events to the advantage of this wonderful revolution is not without calculations. The events in Egypt and the uncertainty in Libya have made a file folder to classify Tunisian emergency. Americans, Italians and French need a reliable ally in order to kill the regime "crazy Tripoli" sit and another that will preserve their interests. Westerners know very well that in Tunisia the power is delivered into the hands of the street and that the government is made up of a government opposed to the people, they have examined their consciences and decided de se rallier au vrai détenteur du pouvoir.

Seiichi Furuya, Memoirs. 1984-1987

On October 7, 1985, the anniversary of the GDR, the wife of the Japanese photographer Seiichi Furuya was thrown from the window of his apartment in East Berlin. Since 1982, Christine Gössler began to show symptoms of schizophrenia. It took a few round trips in a psychiatric hospital Graz (where she had met and Furuya, 1978), Vienna (where she had begun to study drama, before abandoning them due to illness). Furuya, graduated from photography school in Tokyo since 1975 traveling between Vienna, Graz and East Berlin after a long post soixantehuitard trip aboard the Trans-Siberian Railway. One knows a little work today in the journal Camera Austria, where he must have been one of the first in Europe to show or Moryama Araki Daido, but when he met Christine in February 1978 Furuya was not living with his photos. He lived from odd jobs translations. Photograph was an attempt for him to see clearly, to translate the image by this silent Eastern bloc which appeared unbreakable: streets, of everyday perspectives and trams, collected with a gently ironic eye, stranger in a similar style of Gary Winogrand. Of course, a lot of his photos were portraits of this beautiful woman in the dark face and their little boy, Komiyo Klaus, born in 1981. Photos showing less than fronted the cities of Eastern Europe, as if no corner could never succeed in achieving this woman who gradually moved away from reality, he became foreign. The day before his suicide, Seiichi Furuya photographed the still, in a garden in autumn colors. His look at it that tries to hook the camera, but it obviously can not do it, the farewell is already endorsed. Suicide Christine bisects the book. The second half is completely haunted by his absence - they are the same buildings the same streets, the gardens themselves, the same sky, even the Communist bloc and yet still glaciation, but a piece missing, which upsets the architecture of the together. Silence does not replace it. Where is Christine? Splice by what she has escaped? At the exact
hyphenation of the book, as of April 7, 1985, found a contact sheet, you do not notice it right away, the photographs are too numerous, tiny, but one of them is seen a body pressed against the green grass, a patch of greenery amidst towers of concrete. We understand that this photo was taken from the window where the body even ejected. A photo does not enlarge Furuya, not expose. A picture that defies art, photography, life, understanding. We do not know what is happening in his head when he made this photo there at that time. We know, however, in which he has lived for empty, his art is barely concealing his pain under a false trivial - dozens of photos of a flat lifeless, dozens of photos of land and full of herbs that repel always a bit by erasing the traces, dozens of pictures of tanks, steps, all these festivals celebrating every 7 October 1 Republic meaningless, undecipherable condition promptly.

What Happened Freeones

Michael Wolf, Compression Tokyo, 2010

Michael Wolf is a German photographer I discovered another book, "The transparent city. He photographed huge glass towers around the world, sometimes zooming in on their occupants. I have often experienced alone, lost in a hotel on the 36th floor, watch who lived in the tower opposite and try to subdue its people. Voyeurism what! With
Tokyo Compression , Wolf explores something more confined, as it is a series of photos taken on the banks of the Tokyo subway stations, showing passenger cars in compressed rush hour, totally absorbed in their thoughts. Almost trapped like animals in a cattle car.
addition to their graphic qualities, aesthetic and poetic, it appears from these pictures something disturbing, a mixture of oppression, freedom, confinement, privacy and secretions (water vapor, perspiration and odors). A striking contrast between the promiscuity of the car packed and loneliness that emerges beings.
In fact, when it does nothing, even though we would be surrounded by dozens of people, we are in touch with our inner voices. One can not escape it.
There is something universal in there.
This book could have been photograph of the Swiss, the Mongols or the Egyptians: it is only when one thinks ... probably all more or less the same things.

clear that Ghannouchi was marginalized within the loop to the central decision-making in the system, set the Baji Sbsi leader and first minister, means that this system لايزال منغلقا على نفسه Beji Caid

press conference to Ghannouchi worth an initial observations: First, Ghannouchi did not want to officially take responsibility for Fire on the victims between 25 and 26 February, suggesting plots within the authority (security?) Him, but the pain was not in such a state of national duty to declare the facts? Secondly, it was salvation Individually and could not bear the responsibility as one of the officials who formed the government, he must declare the government's resignation as president but only after wide consultations and to arrange the transition. More importantly, the press conference are the visions expressed by Ghannouchi, only after journalists asked: Ghannouchi k »citizen» says that there is a revolution and that the exit of Ben Ali and the transfer of power did not Not normal (flight) and must therefore be a new constitution and constituent assembly elections. And is one of the most important demands of the protesters in the Casbah. Because there is no relation to the forces of opposition and opens a serious dialogue if? It is clear Ghannouchi, the marginalized inside the loop to the central decision-making in the system.
and was quick appointment (can not excuse the state of emergency in front of the high importance of national consensus in the situation Current) for Paget's commander Sbsi (about 85 years) and the first minister means that this system is still closed on itself and clinging to the past and the faces of the past. And isolation from interference by any outside forces, such a system Is one of the bears primarily responsibility to insist on the closure before any serious dialogue
...
I will not defend the parties opposing the government including that form political alliance Almraov as «the National Council for the Protection of the Revolution». But all the political parties or the parties that operate in politics (and naive to believe that any one of the unions in any place And time, especially in the places and times of revolution, not to dabble in politics) are parties designed to power ... or at least the influence
...

but what I will say, And I have said many times, who controls the government is responsible in my opinion for this crisis of confidence now and is a coalition was formed under the auspices of Ben Ali (and was designed to rescue the son of Ali) since January 13,
...

lock this coalition of himself and his refusal during the past period to engage in serious dialogue with the proposals for expansion of power that go ... and then the transitional phase ambiguity arrangements Transitional phase with the exclusion of other parties from the center of the decision form the transitional phase (the Political Reform Commission has advisory powers only .. who decides in the end is the government) ... This is exactly who provided the opportunity for the parties excluded in order to mobilize a number of good Not from people around them ... and I mean the peak reached sit on 25 February ... as induce alliance «Protection Board Revolution »parties that were the backbone of the social revolution of the impoverished classes and even a middle frequency, which provoked the government and private initiatives that Toshi is definitely not with the past and not Clear road map to the pieces
On the other hand the ruling coalition (what I call the Government of January 13) has succeeded in maneuvering again, and as happened in the first sit-induce him Social strata afraid of instability and fear «impoverished encroachment» of the capital
...
clear that induce these two blocs Alssayasitin the social parties Different is not artificial and is an expression of two visions of the meaning of change for the time being affected by the social interests of each party and not just a difference in the arguments and psychologists. I estimate that from And began to carry more blood in this revolution is pushing in the direction of democracy, a more serious and deeper (Jstor and new constituent assembly). And this independently of any opportunism can be characterized by some or all of the parties «Council to protect the revolution». And the fact that there is a mix and Vesfsaoua sit-in in the first and the second stalk. There are political parties and clear and there are young people to reject those parties, but Consistent with the political plan. And therefore difficult to talk about «manipulation» by one party .. There is an attempt take advantage of each party to the other party
Finally, be with spirit And goals and the demands of a sit-stalk does not mean we share the same aspirations of these parties but it does mean that we share the objectives of those in disadvantaged strata of serious and lasting democracy. Ideally, Which I always aspire to do is to produce masses of young people these parties are represented on the new cut with the ideological narratives of this closed political parties. But that is achieved باحتشام الان و ليس بشكل حاسم

Essebsi: facet repressive of the former Minister of Interior. Beji Caid

Beji Caid Essebsi always presented himself as part of the liberal tendency within the PSD (Parti Socialiste Destourian RCD renamed in 1988) and has been since 1970. However, Beji Caid Essebsi never explained on its way to the Ministry of Interior (Beji Caid Essebsi is former director of the National Security Committee (January 1963 - July 1965), Secretary of State for the Interior (July 1965-September 1969).
In 2002, He has done an interview with Michel Camau and Vincent Geisser. ( Book: Bourguiba track and heritage, collective work under the direction of Michel Camau and Vincent Geisser.: 01/05/2004 Publisher: Karthala. Interview Beji Caid Essebsi, pp 577-601. Interview by Michel Camau and Vincent Geisser in April 2002. Transcript revised and corrected by Beji Caid Essebsi. )
However, in his memoirs published recently (they are spread over 515 pages anyway) "Habib Bourguiba, the wheat and tares, Beji Caid Essbsi not quoting this interview little known in Tunisia. A review of page 417 of his memoir documents the presence of 21 annexes attached to the memories of Beji Caid Essebsi ... but we can not find his interview with the two French researchers.
And because it is in this interview that finds the facet repressive Beji Caid Essebsi.
On page 597 of his conversation with Michel Camau, in response to a question about the terrible conditions of detention in prison at Borj Erroumi Beji Caid Essebsi said
"The conditions were difficult because Borj Er Rumi was a former French prison, the Foreign Legion. Personally, I only visited once. I saw that they were damp cellars. But first, I did not know .
Yet Noura Borsali reported in his article: "The plot of December 1962: Should we kill them? ( Borsali Noura, 26-12-2002 - Noura Borsali-Realities-Tunisian Weekly, reprinted in his book: Bourguiba test of democracy "), the words of a prisoner in Borj Erroumi Temime H ' Maidi Tounsi:
"The other prisoners were brought, February 2, the penal colony Ottoman Porto Farina, the ammunition depot of the time when the Turks chained at the feet, they spent seven years in harsh conditions and without any news of their families. They were then driven to the prison Borj Erroumi Bizerte where they lived in Damous, sort of an ammunition depot at the time of the French 37 steps (about 15 m) deep. The walls, according to testimony collected continuously oozed: 3 to 4 liters a day so that "we are shivering in winter and summer due to moisture. As the sun rays or light, we have been there right after our seven years at Porto Farina and our transfer to Bizerte. For over seven years, we lived in darkness
day and night, "says Temime H'maidi Tounsi (read further testimony Ben Yochrett). They were visited by some politicians as Taieb Mhiri, Beji Caid Essebsi , Mohamed Farhat, Hedi Baccouche, Tahar Belkhodja Fouad Mbazaa, the governor of Bizerte ... "After visiting Taieb Mhiri, the system has become harder .

I still remember the words of Beji Caid Essebsi:
"They still hold? "We still says Temime H'madi Tounsi"
On page 598 (Beji Caid Care Essebsi) again, about the conspiracy of 1962, Beji Caid Essebsi plays the confusion, stating:
"For the conspiracy in December 1962, I was in office because, as I said before, I was appointed head of police at that time. But she was treated by the Department of Defense. "
Azzedine Azzouz confirms on page 229 of his book ("History does not forgive." Azzedine Azouz. Tunisia from 1939 to 1969.) that "the case of conspiracy in December was well tried before military court Boulevard Bab Mnara in the building of the Ministry of Defence.
However, the same Azzedine Azzouz tells in the pages 223-224-225-226, conditions in which interrogations were taking place taking place in the premises of the Ministry of Interior led by Beji Caid Essebsi:
Preview Page 224 of the book of fire Azzedine Azzouz:
"I can not describe here what I've heard read that evening: torture, tortures, inhuman screams, whip, choking on the water, burning with cigarettes and electricity, torture of the bottle, etc.. I could not believe my ears and imagine living in the twentieth century, in modern Tunisia and independent under the chairmanship of Bourguiba. A policeman colossal stature burst into the room where I was, a whip in his hand and drenched in sweat by dint of beating detainees. Looking at me, he gave me: "Consider yourself lucky not to suffer the same fate as you are free ... "
Even the police on emergency night wore a disgusted and gnashed their teeth. One among them an old, remarked: "It's a shame we never saw this same time of colonialism French. "(End)
On page 598 of the interview Beji Caid Essebsi in response to a question concerning the conditions of detention of activists Outlook (extreme left ), Beji Caid Essebsi said
"I do not know if you believe me, but I learn now. " (Only in 2002 did he learn that the conditions of detention of political prisoners in 1967 were brutal! In 1967, he was indeed the Minister of Interior!)
And when Michel Camau and Vincent Geisser insist on conditions of detention of opponents who could not escape the former interior minister, Beji Caid Essebsi says
"That said, I do not know exactly what the perspectival complain. They say they were abused. "
It seems that in 2002 the former Minister of Interior did not know what to complain opponents of Habib Bourguiba who brutally tortured while was the Minister of the Interior.
